**Course Overview**<br/><br/>Are you interested in the field of Education and how children learn? Perhaps in teaching history at secondary school or working with children and young people in an associated professional role? Our Education and History degree could be exactly what you’re looking for. <br/><br/>**Why study with us**<br/><br/><br/>- There are opportunities to go on international trips; previously students have gone to destinations such as South Africa, Cyprus and China to study their education systems. You could choose to take time out to spend a year teaching abroad with one of our international partners.<br/><br/><br/>- The organisations we work with include Lancashire Archives, the People’s History Museum and the Lancashire Museum Service. <br/><br/><br/>- You’ll have opportunities to undertake work placements in each of your three years and you’ll have the chance to undertake the Community History Project, which involves working to a project brief devised by a real client.<br/><br/><br/>**What youll do**<br/><br/><br/>- We’ll equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to teach with a high level of subject expertise. You’ll also develop vital skills in team-working and communication.<br/><br/><br/>- Opportunities for work placements in education at every stage of your degree. In Year 3 these will be in a historical setting – previous students have worked with Lancashire Archives, the People’s History Museum and the Lancashire Museum Service.<br/><br/><br/>- There are opportunities to go on international trips; previously students have gone to destinations such as South Africa, Cyprus and China to study their education systems. You could choose to take time out to spend a year teaching abroad with one of our international partners. In 2019-20, students worked as assistant teachers at schools in Madrid and Barcelona.<br/><br/><br/>**Accreditations**<br/><br/><br/>- The Institute is at the leading edge of management thinking and are a globally recognised professional membership body for leaders and managers. Their research into new ideas, techniques and methods ensures that ILM courses are constantly improving, helping to develop students leadership and management skills.<br/><br/><br/>**Future Careers**<br/>This course is ideal if you want to become a teacher in secondary schools or further education following a PGCE or other postgraduate teacher training course.
